One of the possible mechanism poroviding for the conservation of protein structure and function in the course of evolution is co-ordinated residue's substitutions. They occur in corellated manner such that disruptive effect of one mutation could be compensated by substitution of other residue(s). We analysed such substitutions in several protein families. Possible roles of co-ordinated substitutions is discussed.
