We investigated the influence of bhujangasana on serum levels of cortisol, testosterone, dehydroepiandrosterone and aldosterone in healthy humans. Blood samples in 8 subjects aged 22-50 years were taken before and after bhujangasana. The time interval between the first and the second blood samples was not more than 5 minutes.
By A.I.Ivanov's method of evaluation of confidence interval was proved, that cortisol decreased with significant level 0.01 by 11%, and testosterone increased with significant level 0.05 by 16% in all subjects. Concentrations of dehydroepiandrosterone and aldosterone varied in different directions. We hypothesized that bhujangasana activated nerve conduction ways for steroid hormone production within the framework of motor & visceral interactions theory.
