	ENERGETIC SECURITY OF RUSSIA: PROBLEMS AND DECISIONS Russian Federation Government Prize-winners in the field of Science and Engineering.
	SCHOLARSHIPS OF THE "NEFTEENERGOBANK" Over a period of several years the "Nefteenergobank" pays scholarships to full and assistant professors, post-graduates and students of the Tomsk higher educational institutions that have significantly contributed in the development of energetics, oil fields and geology.

	HONORARY DIRECTOR Academician Anatoly Vasilievich Rzhanov is 80.

	"MISTER CdHgTe" April 8, 2000 Doctor Sc. (Physics and Mathematics) Yuri Georgievich Sidorov, head of the Laboratory of Molecular Beam Epitaxy of AIIBVI compounds, Institute of Semiconductor Physics SB RAS, is 60.
	FOUNDED 25 YEARS AGO... This year the Institute of System Dynamics and Theory of Control SB RAS, before recent called as the Irkutsk Computing Center, celebrates the quarter of a century. International Conference "Mathematics, Informatics and System Control" dedicated to the anniversary will take place this summer at Baikal.
	FROM DRAGON TO DRAGON Scientific and Practical Laboratory of Neuroinfections of CCH SB RAS was founded in 1988 as a part of the Novosibirsk Institute of Bioorganic Chemistry SB RAS immediately after the Year of Dragon had begun. Twelve years just have passed, the Year of Dragon has come again and the Laboratory has modestly celebrated its first original anniversary under the slogan "From Dragon to Dragon".
	FORMULAE OF DECISION Please try, dear reader, to make a questioning at least in our scientists’ surroundings: whether may the publishing of scientific books be considered as profitable business today. There is no reason to analyze about German or European people activities, why they succeed in, and we do not. That is because people of Siberian Branch do really succeed in, namely the body of personnel who use the old polygraphic base of the former Institute of Geology and Geophysics SB RAS. Recently they have celebrated the Fifth anniversary of the group. Now this division has completely been formed as the Scientific Publishing Center, which is specialized in scientific literature publication.
	VACANCIES
	SCIENCE. EDUCATION. NOVEL TECHLOLOGIES. The traditional Annual Exhibition "Science. Education. Novel Technologies" have been just accomplished in the International Exposition Complex "Sibexpocenter", Irkutsk. At the seventh time the leading scientific research and design institutes, higher educational institutions, companies and science intensive plants from various regions of Siberia and Far East have demonstrated their achievements and possibilities.
	BAIKAL IS NOT ONLY IRKUTIAN PEOPLE’S WORRY At the beginning of April the International Seminar on Ecological Mapping of the Baikal Natural Area took place at the Institute of Geography. A group of scientists and experts from Germany have participated in this work.

	NEW GENERATION OF YOUNG GEOLOGISTS On the spring school vacations, March 25 and 26, the United Institute of Geology, geophysics and Mineralogy SB RAS assisted by the Scientific Council on Education Problems of the Presidium SB RAS, the Novosibirsk State University and the Special Educational and Scientific Center under NSU have conducted the 26-th Siberian Geologic Olympiad.
	BIOINFORMATICS: DEMAND GENERATES SUPPLY The next academic year in the Higher Informatics College (HIC) of the Novosibirsk State University, a new specialization will be open. The field of "Bioinformatics" will be added to the four usual fields "Physical and Technical Informatics", "Informatics Systems", "Economical Informatics" and "Intellectual Systems". Head of the HIC, Candidate Sc. (Physics and Mathematics) Abrik Ibraghimovich Valishev tells about the novel specialty.
	MEETING WITH HISTORY The book "Novonikolaevskie torochki" by Siberian writer A.Sadyrov issued by Siberian Publishing House "Nauka" RAS has just been presented at the Regional Scientific Library. The employees of the Regional Archive Service, of the City Journalists’ Union, of the writer’s organization and of the Regional Scientific Library, as well as the press representatives have taken part in this event.

	TO FIND ONE’S OWN STAR The Children’s Fine Arts Exhibition has been opened at the Winter Garden of the House of Scientists SB RAS. The exposition is noteworthy for the visitors of every age and profession due to a variety of styles and representational techniques as well as due to the quality of artistics. Nobody could remain unmoved by the diversity and brilliancy of the images, that are the fruits of the children’s power of observation and fancy, skillfully reproduced onto paper by neat and exact lines, by apt range of colours or by extraordinarily matched collage materials.
