	THE RUSSIAN PRESIDENTIAL PRIZE AWARDED The Russian Federation Presidential Prize in the field of education is awarded to a collective of scientists and teachers of the Novosibirsk Academgorodok for creation of a series of works "New lines in cooperation between secondary and higher schools in mathematical education (innovation developments)" assigned for educational institutions of secondary and higher vocational training.
	QUEEN OF MECHANICAL ENGINEERING Recently an undergraduate of machine-building faculty of the Tomsk Polytechnical University Anna Koval has been decorated with the RAS Youth Competition Medal of 2000 in the field of mechanical engineering, mechanics and control processes.

	SPIRITUAL PRIZE FOR SCIENTIST A prize for long-term selfless work in the field of development of Russian culture and spirituality has been presented to Director of the Siberian Institute of Plant Physiology and Biochemistry of the SB RAS, Corresponding Member of the RAS Rurik Saliaev at the Readings dedicated to Innokentius the Consecrator held recently in Irkutsk.

	CONGRATULATIONS! December 30, 2001 prominent Russian scientist, Director of the A.P.Ershov Institute of Informatics Systems of SB RAS, Doctor Sc. (Physics and Mathematics), Professor Aleksandr Gurievich Marchuk is 50.
	MANY HAPPY RETURNS ON YOUR ANNIVERSARY, RASHID IBRAGIMOVICH! Rashid Ibragimovich Ahmerov celebrates his 75th anniversary standing labor sentinel. He is impartially titled as a photo-chronicler of the Siberian Branch, because almost 50 years (since the times of the USSR Academy of Sciences West- Siberian Branch) he is never separate from his camera, tirelessly fixing everyday lives and holidays of Siberian science.
	"FATHER OF YAKUT DIAMONDS" In the past year Corresponding Member of the RAS Michail Michailovich Odintsov, outstanding Siberian geologist, discoverer of the Yakut diamonds, founder of many theories in the Earth`s bowels studies, head of the largest Institute of East Siberia that was at the beginnings of formation of the Irkutsk Scientific Center, would be 90.
	TO MY TEACHER In 2001, one of outstanding Russian botanists, founder of the Laboratory of Geobotany of the Central Siberian Botanical Garden of the SB RAS, Doctor Sc. (Biology), Professor Aleksandra Vladimirovna Kuminova would be 90.
	NEW IDEAS AND TECHNOLOGIES Holding of the Fair Exhibition "ChemMachine" and "ChemProduct" in Kemerovo has become a tradition of the "Expo-Siberia" Exhibition Company.
	MIRACLES COMING TRUE On New Year each of us expects a miracle though a small one. From my own experience I know that miracles, if not only to believe in them, but also to work for them, use to come true although not at once. Isn`t it a miracle that, addressing to the corporate catalogue created by joint efforts of the city libraries you can instantly find a book of your interest, irrespective of wheresoever, in what a library stock it could be there.
	URGENT PROBLEM The Tuva Institute for Exploration of Natural Resources of the SB RAS is unique academic establishment in our Republic. Basic spectrum of sciences focused on realization of fundamental and applied researches in the scientific field "State-of-the-art and development of Tuva natural resources and that of contiguous regions of Central Asia, geo-ecology of natural environment and society" is presented there harmoniously.
	ADVENTURES OF SIBERIANS IN ITALY Science was one of the basic reasons of evolution of western civilization as well as an engine of economy within more than four centuries. But despite of it, the society is confused and staggered with scientific discoveries of the 20th century, which are as dangerous as useful. In the beginning of the third millenium the problem of "Science PR" is added to the actual problems of scientific search: it is necessary to learn society again to see high utility of scientific work.
