	THE PATH OF ANCIENT MAN TO EURASIA HAS BEEN LONG AND HARD On June 12, Russian President V.V. Putin has awarded the State Prize to Academician Anatoly Panteleevich Derevyanko Director of the Institute of Archeology and Ethnography of SB RAS - for outstanding discoveries and writings in the field of ancient history in Eurasia and the formation of human being of modern physical and anatomical type.
	ACADEMICIAN M.I. KUZMIN IS 75 Congratulations from the SB RAS Presidium.
	TO THE HEIGHTS OF SCIENCE THROUGH THE DEPTH OF EARTH June 20 marks the 75th birth anniversary of Academician Mikhail Ivanovich Kuzmin.
	ABOUT A NEW PARADIGM OF THE EARTH EVOLUTION A Workshop on the origin and evolution of mantle plumes in the Earth's history and their relationship with the hot fields of the Earth's mantle has been held on the island of Olkhon - blessed corner of the lake, from June 4 through June 8.
	CENTER OF GRAVITY OF IDEAS Organization of some events in the frame of Franco-Siberian Research and Education Center has taken place on July 17 and 18 in Novosibirsk. Signing of the Agreement on the establishment of the Center was, according to most opinions, one of the landmark events of the past year.
	THE RESONANCE OF ALEXANDER VON HUMBOLDT The Conference “Magnetic resonance as a tool for interdisciplinary research” has been held at the Novosibirsk Scientific Center from June 2 through June 6.
	SECURITY IN THE ARCTIC – URGENT ISSUES AND LONG-TERM PROSPECTS In early June, the SPSL of SB RAS has hosted the Russian Canadian Roundtable on “Security in the Arctic”, dedicated to the problems of cooperation of “Arctic Five” countries in the region, aspects of international law, prospects for the development of the extractive industries, environmental and living conditions of the indigenous peoples of the North, the interaction of large megacities.
	SIBERIAN SCIENTISTS IN SAMARKAND The IV International Conference on the current issues of Molecular Spectroscopy of Condensed Matter has been held in the city of Samarkand on May 29-31.
	THE VICTORY IN THE AIR IS FORGED ON THE GROUND In April 2013 the “Aviadvigatel” OJSC (Perm) was visited by specialists from Institutes of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences, including the Christianovich Institute of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics (Novosibirsk) and the Institute of Strength Physics and Materials (Tomsk). The purpose of the visit was to prepare to work together within the framework of the Cooperation Agreement between the Institutes of the Department of Energy, Engineering, Mechanics and Control Processes of RAS and the “Aviadvigatel” OJSC.
	COAL EXHIBITION IN KUZBASS Scientists of the Institute of Coal of SB RAS have participated in the 20th Anniversary International Specialized Exhibition “Russian Coal and Mining”, one of the leading exhibitions in the world on mountains, held in early June in Novokuznetsk.
	A RANGE OF OPPORTUNITIES One of the trends of the last decade was the tight integration of scientists from different countries. Academic Institutes of the Tomsk Scientific Center have contacts with research organizations from 25 Near and Far Abroad Countries. One of the states with which cooperation is developing very productively is Germany.
	TYUMEN SCIENTISTS EXAMINE THE “DRY WATER” Interest in gas hydrates is growing from year to year, both among scholars and among representatives of the oil and gas industry. Employees of the Department of Physical Chemistry of Cryogenic Processes from the Tyumen Earth Cryosphere Institute of SB RAS are just engaged in the study of gas hydrates and are developing technologies for possible use of “dry water” for their storage and transportation.
	HELLO FROM RUSSIA A meeting dedicated to the memory of Georgy Stepanovich Fedoseev, a famous inventor of the SB RAS, will be held at the Branch of SPSL (Ac. Lavrentiev Avenue, 6) on June 27.
	“SIGMA” BUILDING CONCEPT HAS BEEN DEFINED One of the central issues that has been discussed at the regular general meeting of the housing co-operative “Sigma”, was the choice of the concept for building a future settlement.
	IT’S STILL SUMMER This spring, everybody in Western Siberia has been tired of waiting for real heat. Both, people and wild inhabitants of this quite severe region. For several reasons, the most dependent on the vagaries of weather are birds.

	BETWEEN TWO OLYMPICS Very little time is left before the Winter Olympics, so the sixth day in Tomsk Academgorodok was held under the sports motto: “In short, the Academ is cooler than Sochi!”
	THROUGH SPORT – TO ACTIVE LONGEVITY The 2nd Festival with the theme “Through sport - to active longevity” has been over. From September 2012 through May 2013 ten districts of Novosibirsk met on the sports fields, competing in ten kinds of sport.
