	SB RAS: RESULTS OF THE YEAR On the eve of New Year holidays, Chairman of the SB RAS Academician A.L. Aseev and Chief Academician Secretary of the Branch N.Z. Lyakhov have conducted a traditional press conference on the results of the year.
	AWARDS FOR BEST PUBLICATIONS The results of professional competition for the best journalistic publication on the history of science, devoted to the 55th anniversary of the SB RAS and the Year of Russian history, have been announced on the New Year's Eve.

	INVERSE PROBLEMS VIRTUOSO Sergey Igorevich Kabanikhin, Corresponding Member of the RAS, a renowned expert in the field of theory and numerical methods for solving inverse and ill-posed problems of mathematical physics, geophysics, acoustics, electrodynamics, has marked his 60th birth anniversary on December 27.
	REGULARITY IN RANDOMNESS Sergey Viktorovich Nagaev, Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Principal Researcher of the S.L. Sobolev Institute of Mathematics of SB RAS, has marked his 80th birth anniversary on December 11.

	UP TO THE WORLD STANDARDS In the last days of the year, our city was visited by the Deputy Minister of Education and Science A.B. Povalko. At the Novosibirsk State University, he had a meeting with the Rector of NSU M.P. Fedoruk. The key scientists and executives of the Siberian Branch of RAS, same as academic teaching staff of the State University have attended the meeting.
	THE RUSSIAN FEDERATION OF COSMONAUTICS - IN KRASNOYARSK On December 19th, upon an initiative of the Krasnoyarsk regional department of the Russian Engineering Workers Guild, an extended meeting of the Krasnoyarsk regional department of the Russian Engineering Workers Guild and the Krasnoyarsk regional department of the Russian Cosmonautics Federation has been held.
	COMBUSTION OF SOLID FUEL The VIII All-Russian Conference with international participation “Combustion of Solid Fuel” has been held last month in the Novosibirsk Academgorodok.
	CURRENT PROBLEMS, INTERESTING TASKS The XIV Russian Conference with international participation “Distributed Information and Computational Resources (DICR-2012)” has been held in Novosibirsk from November 26 through November 30.
	METHODOLOGICAL SEMINAR Department of Regional Economic Research of the BSC of SB RAS is carrying out a series of methodological seminars “Assessment of the Regional Economy” for young scientists.
	COMPETITION FOR YOUNG SCIENTISTS Since 2007, the Council of young scientists and experts supported by the directorate of Institute for Biological Problems of Cryolithozone of SB RAS holds annual competitions on the year-over-year results of scientific activities.
