	GENERATION "NEXT": THE MORE THE BETTER... On the results of the 12th Competition of the Russian Academy of Sciences for young scientists held recently, lecturer of the I.I.Polzunov Altai State Technical University has been decorated with Gold Medal and rewarded with the Prize.
	SCIENTIFIC HERITAGE OF А.А.LIAPUNOV AND THE PRESENT As the "SiS" has already informed, the conference dedicated to the 90th anniversary from the birthday of Corresponding Member of the USSR Academy of Sciences А.А.Liapunov was held at the Novosibirsk Academgorodok. Scientific interests of А.Liapunov were of encyclopedic character indeed, which is to explain wide spectrum of the conference topics: informational biology, mathematical modeling in biology, cybernetics in physiology, mathematical cybernetics, theoretical programming, and perspective problems of education.
	DEVELOPERS OF AUTOMATED CONTROL SYSTEMS JOINING From October 16 to October 17 the 3rd International Forum "Industrial Automation Technologies" has been held in Аcademgorodok. About fifty organizations, the representatives of the energy complex units, of the chemical and petrochemical enterprises, employees of scientific, technological and design institutes have taken part in the Forum.
	"ECOLOGICAL RISK" So the All-Russian Conference held recently at the Institute of Geography of the SB RAS was titled. Representatives of 10 Russian cities, mainly of Siberia and Far East took part in the Conference.
	POLYTECHNICAL EXHIBITION AT THE SIBERIAN FAIR From Kaliningrad up to Southern Korea: such is the geography of the Polytechnical Exhibition opened on October 23 at the Siberian Fair. More than 250 dynamically developing companies of Russia, of near and distant foreign countries have presented more than thousand kinds of their production: instrument-making industry, alternative and energy-efficient technologies, non- traditional and renewable energy sources, equipment for power stations, scientific elaborations, environmentally safe technologies for industrial and domestic waste processing and utilization.
	DEVOTED TO THE RESEARCHERS OF SIBERIA Exhibition opened recently at the Irkutsk Museum of Local Lore is dedicated to the 150th anniversary of the East-Siberian Department of the Russian Geographical Society.
	THE SB RAS PUBLISHING HOUSE AT THE FRANKFURT FAIR A fair is an advertising event assigned to attract attention to the participants` activities. The International meeting of publishers, held this year from October 10 to October 15 at Frankfurt-am-Mein, has not become an exception. Participation of the SB RAS Publishing House in this book forum was held under the motto: advertising of scientific activity results of the Siberian Institutes by means of demonstration of the books and journals edited by all the publishing centers of the Branch.
	SCIENTIFIC LIBRARY IN OMSK A library has appeared at the Omsk Scientific Center. Opening of the Central Scientific Library has turned to solemn celebratory ceremony.

	PRESS CONFERENCE FOR SIBERIAN JOURNALISTS From October 18 to October 19 the Interregional Scientific and Practical Conference "Regional press in the Siberian mass media system" for the first time was held in Novosibirsk. Leaders of the Siberian Federal District, of Regional administrations, heads of territorial authorities and creative unions have taken part in the conference.
