	TOWARDS THE FUTURE WITH OPTIMISM In September the Institute of General and Experimental Biology of the Buryat Scientific Center of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences is 20. From the scientific point the Institute is complex one: there are geobotanists and soil scientists, zoologists and hydrobiologists, parasitologists and microbiologists, pharmacologists and pharmaceutist at the Institute.
	SIBERIAN "EXOTICS" AT THE FOOTHILLS OF THE HIMALAYAS This summer the employees of the Central Siberian Botanical Garden headed by the Director V.Sedelnikov have made business trip to Southern China where a lot of vegetable cultures and bushes of the CSBG selection takes root.
	DISCOVERIES OF TANAEVO In the summer of this year the Kuzbass Laboratory of Archeology and Ethnography of the Institute of Archeology and Ethnography of the SB RAS and the Kemerovo State University carried out an expedition to the foothills of the Salair mountain-ridge at the Tanaevo lakeside. About the expedition results there is a talk with Doctor Sc. (History), Professor Vladimir Bobrov, head of the Kuzbass Laboratory of Archeology and Ethnography of the IAE of the SB RAS.
	MEMOIRS ABOUT OUTSTANDING LIFE The Publishing House of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Science has issued the collection "Folklore and literature of Siberia", devoted to memory of literary critic and the specialist in folklore, Corresponding Member of the RAS, the first Director of the Institute of Philology of the SB RAS A.Soktoev.

	FROM GERMANY TO SIBERIA For the eighth time the exhibition "Books of Germany" will be held at Novosibirsk. For the first time the exposition was displayed in 1992. Since then the German books have already visited Tomsk, Kemerovo, Novokuznetsk, Barnaul, Krasnoyarsk, Tyumen and Irkutsk.
	SUMMER MEETING ON PROGRAMMING In August the Summer Training Meeting of the NSU students have been held within the framework of preparation for the International Olympiad of the ASY on programming. Last year the NSU team has won 15th place at the International Olympiad in Orlando (USA).
	"INTERNETIONAL-2001": CHESS TOURNAMENT AND VIRTUAL CITY At the beginning of September the Festival of Information Technologies "Internetional-2001" has been held at the Kemerovo State University. Within the framework of this grandiose event the final round of the First "virtual" Championship of Russia for Chess among high schools and the competition among the best web-resources of the Region were held.
