	ABOUT DISTANT WORLDS AND EARTHY CHORES January, 12 an outstanding scientist in the field of solar physics and astrophysical instrument making, deputy director of the Institute of Solar and Terrestrial Physics of the SB RAS Corresponding Member of the RAS Victor Michailovich Grigoriev is 70. The works of V.M. Grigoriev are recognized to be among basic ones in studying the nature of solar magnetism.

	ON THE BREAKING-THROUGH DIRECTIONS The United Academic Council for nanotechnologies and information technologies is the youngest at the Siberian Branch. In December, on the eve of the General Meeting the SB RAS, the first reporting back session on the results of interdisciplinary integration projects took place.
