	THE PATH OF OUTSTANDING POWER ENGINEER On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of Lev Aleksandrovich Melentiev.
	THE TEACHER AND THE FOLLOWER The teacher of Michail Alekseevich Lavrentieva was Nikolai Nikolaevich Luzin (1883-1950) whose anniversary is related to December, 9. Lavrentiev is a great figure for each research worker of the Siberian Branch. It is impossible to remember and esteem Lavrentiev not knowing and not understanding Luzin.
	"FATHER OF QUANTUM ELECTRONICS BEYOND URAL" The scientific biography of many research workers of Novosibirsk began to develop in the USSR AS West-Siberian Branch (WSB) created 65 years ago then proceeded at the Institutes of the Siberian Branch of the Academy of Sciences. How were the research carried out in the WSB integrated into the structure of the new scientific centere? This question could be answered studying the biographies of Siberian scientists.
	THE INSTITUTE OF COAL AND COAL CHEMISTRY OF THE SB RAS IS 25 November, 13 to 14 the Institute of Coal and Coal Chemistry of the SB RAS celebrated the twenty-fifth anniversary.

	CATALYTIC COMBUSTION FOR SMALL-SCALE POWER INDUSTRY The seventh conference IWCC-7 on catalytic fuel combustion took place in the beginning of October in Zurich.
	MATHEMATICS MEASURING THE COMPLEXITY Last days of October at the Sobolev Institute of Mathematics of the SB RAS an International school - seminar " Synthesis and complexity of control systems " was held on the basis of the Laboratory of Discrete Analysis.
	THE REALIZATION OF THE FEDERAL TARGET PROGRAM DISCUSSED AT THE CAPITAL OF YUGRA November, 13 to 14 in Khanty-Mansiysk the final conference on the realization of the FTP "Research and development in priority fields scientific and technological complex of Russia 2007-2012" for 2008 in the priority line "Infirmation and telecommunication systems".
	READINGS IN MEMORY OF E.N.MESHALKIN From November, 30 to December, 2 the Sixth scientific readings "New technologies in cardiovascular surgery and interventional cardiology" in memory of Academician of Russian Academy of Medical Sciences of E.N.Meshalkin were held at the "Sosnovka" Congress-center.
	AMONG THE BEST IN RUSSIA Supercomputer created at the Institute of System Dynamics and Control Theory of the SB RAS was included into the list of 50 the most powerful computing systems of Russia and CIS countries.
	THE PRESTIGIOUS AWARD Scientific researcher of the Limnological Institute of the SB RAS, Candidate Sc. (Biology) Oxana Kaliuzhnaya has won the National Prize founded by L'Oreal Company under support of the RF Commission on thr affairs of UNESCO and the Russian Academy of Sciences.
