	THE THIRD GROUP The 3rd Russian-German working group for mathematical modelling has gathered July, 23 to 27 at the Institute of Computational Techologies of the SB RAS.
	«COMPUTABLE MODELS AND NUMERATIONS» From August, 6 to August, 11 on the basis of the Institute of Mathematics of the SB RAS the International conference «Computable models and numerations», organized within the framework of the USA National Scientific Foundation grant.
	«JET, SEPARATED AND NONSTATIONARY STREAMS» From August, 15 to August 18 the 21st workshop on jet, separated and nonstationary streams was held at the Christianovich Institute of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics of the SB RAS.
	THE FIRST RUSSIAN PTERIDOLOGIC CONFERENCE From August, 21 to August, 30 the Tomsk State University, the Altai State University and the Russian Botanical Society held the First Russian conference devoted to filicoid, equisetoid and licopodia-like plants.
	GEOCHEMISTS TO GATHER IN IRKUTSK September, 24 to 30 the All-Russian conference «The problems of geochemistry of endogenous processes and environment» devoted to the 50th anniversary of the Institute and the 90th anniversary from the birth date of Academician Lev Tauson will be held at the Vinogradov Institute of Geochemistry of the SB RAS.
	VEPP-2000: A NOVEL COLLIDER OF THE INSTITUTE OF NUCLEAR PHYSICS The collective of the Institute of Nuclear Physics of the SB RAS has gained the next labour victory: June, 26 colliding-beams mode and the first luminosity are obtained at the acceleration complex VEPP-2000.

	THE FIRST-BORN OF THE HIGHER EDUCATION IN BURYATIYA This year the Buryat State University celebrates a significant event, the 75th anniversary.

	SCIENTIFIC STRUCTURE OF THE UNIVERSITY There are scientific schools of a high level formed at the Buryat State University in the field of physics of the condensed matter, botany, ornithology, history, mongolology, sociology, philosophy, literature, linguistics, pedagogics.
	RATIONAL EXPERIENCE OF TRADITIONAL MEDICINE At the Medical Faculty of the Buryat State University one can meet students from many Russian cities. In fact, only here except for studying fundamental medical and biologic disciplines the studies of traditional and national methods of diagnostics, treatment and prophylaxis of diseases are provided in the curriculums.
	ORIENTALISTS ARE TRAINED HERE The dean of Oriental Faculty of the BSU tells about its features and opportunities.
	STUDENT'S DESIGN OFFICE The BSU Student's Design Office unites more than 40 people from different faculties. The basic subjects of the works are the following: material science, structural, strength and thermophysical research, device automation.
	ACADEMIC LABORATORY AT THE UNIVERSITY The Laboratory of Chemistry of Natural Systems of the Baikal Institute for Nature Management of the SB RAS has been organized together with the Buryat State University and placed in the territory of the BSU.

	SUDDEN METHANE EMISSIONS IN MINES Accidents in the collieries are shaking the world. In the most of cases they are connected with the explosions of methane. The Ukrainian, Chinese and Russian mines are considered to be the most dangerous. The safe and complex use of them is the greatest scientific problem.
	THE ACCIDENTS CAN BE AVOIDED The conclusion of the State commission investigated the causes of the accident in the «Ulyanovsk« Mine: the tragedy that have caused the death of 110 men, happened due to a rough intervention of "the human factor» into technological process, non-observance of the safety precautions in the mine, deliberate blocking of the gas monitoring system.

	FEDERAL GRANT FOR IRKUTSK LIMNOLOGISTS The Limnological Institute of the Siberian Branch of the RAS has won a grant under the Federal target program of priority scientific research till 2012.
	THE SIGHT INTO SPACE FROM THE BAIKAL DEPTHS The Irkutsk State University has received the grant of the Federal target program of the development of priority scientific research till 2012 for neutrino studies.

	CONTINUITY Among the editions issued by the anniversary of the Siberian Branch there is a book "Continuity" by the talented journalist and writer Rolen Notman who celebrates his 75 anniversary August, 29. It is narrated in this book about prominent scientists of Siberia and Academic scientific schools created by them, the basis of the development of science.

	OPEN-AIR FAMILY CLUB The idea of the creation of a children's playground in a grove along the Zolotodolinskaya Street wandered for almost two decades. But it was a success only now owing to joint efforts of the Administrative Department of the SB RAS and public organization "Istoki".
