	THE PRIZES NAMED AFTER OUTSTANDING SCIENTISTS The Presidium of the RAS has taken a resolution on the awarding with the prizes named after outstanding scientists for 2006.
	«GLOBAL ENERGY», THE YOUTH NOMINATION December, 18 the summarizing of the All-Russian competition of youth research projects in the field of power engineering for the «Global energy» prizes has taken place in the Central House of Scientists of the RAS.
	NANOTECHNOLOGIES IN BIOLOGY AND MEDICINE The agenda of the scientific session of Presidium of the RAS of December, 22 includes the report «Nanomaterials and nanodevices based on nucleic acids»of the group of researchers of the Institute of Chemical biology and Fundamental Medicine.
	THE SIBERIAN BRANCH OF THE RAS AT THE RUSSIAN NATIONAL EXHIBITION IN PEKING From November, 8 to November, 13 the Russian national exhibition took place in China, in the World trade centre (Peking). The exhibition was held within the framework of the Year of Russia in China.
	JOINING THE EFFORTS During the visit to Krasnoyarsk the first vice-premier of the Russian Government Dmitri Medvedev has visited the Krasnoyarsk Scientific Center of the SB RAS.
	THE GIFTS IN A GOVERNOR’S MANNER December, 12 Governor's reception has taken place at the Administration of the Kemerovo Region. There were the representatives of science celebrated.
	THE YOUTH SCHOOL: WORKING FOR OUTLOOK At the end of September the 4th European school on catalysis «Catalytic design: from molecular level to industrial realization» has been held in Pushkin, the suburb of Saint Petersburg.
	FOREIGN MIGRANTS IN SIBERIA The scientific and practical seminar «Foreign migrants in the Siberian labor- market, modern migratory processes in the Siberian Federal District» held in the Novosibirsk Academgorodok has been devoted to one of the global problems of the development of modern society such as immigration of the foreign manpower from near and far abroad within the context of national (social, economic, ethno- cultural) security and its consequences in the Siberian labor-market.
	INNOVATIONS IN NUCLEAR BRANCH Scientific and practical conference of students and post-graduates «Innovations in nuclear branch: problems and decisions»has been held at the State Technological Academy in the City of Seversk (Tomsk Region).
	THE NOVOSIBIRSK ACADEMGORODOK PREPARING FOR THE ANNIVERSARY In the beginning of 2006 within the framework of the preparation for the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Siberian Branch an extensive program of modernization of the objects and infrastructure of the Novosibirsk Scientific Center has been developed by the Presidium of the SB RAS. Similar programs are prepared in other scientific centers of the Branch as well.
	WHAT ABOUT "VEDY" HAVE TOLD The review of several issues the "Vedy" weekly for 2006, the scientific information and analytical newspaper of the National Academy of Sciences and the State Committee for Science and Technologies of Byelorussia.
	THE STATE PUBLIC SCIENTIFIC TECHNICAL LIBRARY DECORATED WITH «THE WHITE ROSE» December, 14 an exhibition devoted to the history of German student's Resistance movement against Hitlerism, «The White Rose» has been opened at the Library.
	TOGETHER AGAINST THE FLU EPIDEMIC How to resist to the possible epidemic of flu of new type? This question was discussed at the end of November by the heads of sanitary-and-epidemiologic services of the CIS countries at the International seminar-meeting «Struggling against highly pathogenous bird’s flu and alertness enhancement for flu pandemic».
	NEW OPPORTUNITIES IN THE ATHEROSCLEROSIS TREATMENT December, 21 a press conference titled «New opportunities in the treatment of atherosclerosis» has been held at the conference hall of Municipal Clinical Hospital No 34.
