	RESULTS OF THE RAS COMPETITION FOR YOUNG SCIENTISTS In the Russian Academy of Sciences, results are summed up of annual competition for the medals of the Russian Academy of Sciences with the prizes for young scientists of the RAS, of other establishments, organizations of Russia as well as for the students of Higher education institutions of Russia are brought.
	FROM FRACTALS TO OWN ALGORITHM Natalia VAGANOVA from the Institute of Computational Mathematics and Mathematical Geophysics of the SB RAS has been awarded with the first prize in competition of young scientists, the results of which were summed up at the end of the last year by the Novosibirsk Regional Administration, for the cycle of works "Fractal compression of dynamic images" in the nomination "Information and telecommunication technologies".
	HOW DOES A COMPUTER HELP TO SOLVE THE PROBLEMS OF PROTEOMICS At the session of the Presidium of the SB RAS in the beginning of December, 2004, scientific report of the winners of the Lavrentiev competition of young scientists of the Siberian branch, researchers of the Institute of Cytology and genetics D.Afonnikov, V.Ivanisenko, I.Titov "Computer analysis and modeling of structure, functions and evolutions of globular proteins" has been heard. The message has made the most favorable impression upon the participants. Authors have prepared a version of the report for the "SiS" we offer the readers.
	THE INP HAS ACCOUNTED FOR A FIVE-YEAR PERIOD In December, 2004, a check of scientific, scientific-organizing, financial and economic activities of the Institute of Nuclear Physics of the SB RAS has been carried out.
	A SEMINAR ON THE COPYRIGHT February, 2, 2005 the State Public Scientific Technical Library and Scientific Publishing Council of the SB RAS hold the seminar on the copyright at the Conference Hall of the Presidium of the SB RAS. The lecturer is Mrs. L.Owen (Great Britain), Director for Copyrights of the "Pearson Education" publishing house, International evaluator on the copyright.
	COMPETITIVE CONFERENCE AT THE NSU February, 4-5, 2005 the Novosibirsk State University under support of the Microsoft Company Representation in Russia holds a competitive conference "Microsoft technologies in computer science and programming".
	THE IRKUTSK "SIBEXPOCENTER" REPRESENTING INNOVATIONS For the eleventh time the exhibition "Innovations: economics, social sphere, science, education" will be held at the Irkutsk International exhibition center "SibExpoCenter".

	OUR COMPATRIOTS ABROAD After the opening in the "SiS" No 2, 2005 the column "Our compatriots abroad" with the publication of the interview with Alexander Butorin who lives and works in France now, we have received answers from two other specialists, former graduates of the NSU: physicist Yuri Krieger and chemist Eugeni Ivanov working in the USA.
	SIBERIAN YEAR OF A GERMAN POST-DOC Last year Holger Bohrhert, a researcher of the Institute of Physical Chemistry of the University of Hamburg engaged in the studies on colloidal nano- crystallites with various physical methods had a post-dock training at the Institute of Catalysis of the SB RAS after his PhD thesis defense in Germany.
