	GENERAL MEETING OF THE SB RAS April, 22 Annual General Meeting of the Siberian Branch of the RAS has taken place. Representatives of the Administrations of the Siberian Federal District, Novosibirsk Region, Republic Tyva, other regions as well as representatives of higher education institutions have taken part in its work.

	LARGE-SCALE ANNIVERSARY The Large Hall of the House of Scientists has changed, when Academician Lev Vasilievich Ovsiannikov was congratulated on his anniversary on the stage.
	GENERAL OF WELDING SCIENCE Honorary Doctor of the SB RAS, Professor Peter Seiffart. In the beginning of the 90ths he has created the Center for training of German welders that has grown into the basic center for educational and research process in the field of welding science and engineering at the International Institute of Welding.
	OLD FRIEND OF RUSSIAN CHEMISTS Professors of the California University Alex Bell is known for many years in Novosibirsk and is called by right “big friend of Russian chemists”. Recently at the Annual General Meeting of the SB RAS, he was handed with Diploma of Honorary Doctor of the SB RAS.
	ON THE RESULTS OF THE SB RAS ACTIVITIES IN 2003 AND PROBLEMS THE SB RAS RE-STRUCTURING Resolution of the General Meeting of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
	PROGRAM "SIBERIA": PATIENT IS ALIVE, BUT NOT SO MUCH... Sessions of the Council of the program "Siberia" during many years traditionally precede the General annual Meeting of the SB RAS. The present discussion held on April, 21 in the Exhibition Center of the SB RAS, was not traditional one, since it could be the last. Reorganization of the Council of the program "Siberia" into Council for innovation activity was basic question in the agenda.

	STAGES OF INNOVATION ACTIVITIES AT THE KEMEROVO SCIENTIFIC CENTER Traditionally, scientific session is held in April at the Kemerovo Scientific Center of the SB RAS. Topic of the present gathering of scientists is "Basic researches and lines of development of innovation activity".
	INNOVATION UNDER PRESSING Innovation. This word has come into fashion in our country. Everybody around says that Russia passes on to an innovation way of development. And what does it mean?
	FRIENDS OF SIBERIAN SCIENCE Society of friends of Siberian science has appeared at the University. Now it is an initiative group of students.
	SAMSUNG GATHERS YOUNG PEOPLE April, 26-27 the Day of Young Scientists organized by the "Samsung" company together with the Siberian Branch of the RAS has taken place in Novosibirsk.
	CONFERENCE AS AN INTEGRATION TOOL OF HIGH EDUCATION INSTITUTIONS Results are summed up of the 42nd International Scientific Student`s Conference "Student and scientific and technical progress" traditionally held on the base of the Novosibirsk State University.
	INTERWEEK 2004 From May, 4 to May, 10, 2004 the Novosibirsk State University holds the traditional Interweek. Origins of the Interweek are connected with May-day tradition that has arisen in 1966 under the initiative of a group of the Komsomol activists of the NSU.
	ANNIVERSARY OF Z.BUKATOVA
	ALL-RUSSIA OLYMPIAD ON INFORMATICS IS COMPLETED Results of the All-Russian Olympiad of schoolchildren on informatics are summed up. It has taken place in Tver from April 11 to April 17, 2004.
	TWO SIGHTS AT THE SAME MATTER From the "SibAcademStroi"(SAS) an interview of the SAS Director General D.Lykov has come to the "SiS" editors where he gives his vision of the state of affairs with construction of apartment house at the Koptiug Avenue in the Novosibirsk Academgorodok.
