	OUR PHYSICAL PEDESTAL On Tuesday the Swedish Academy of Sciences has declared the names of Nobel Prize winners in physics: they are Russian Academicians Alexei Abrikosov and Vitaly Ginzburg as well as Englishman Anthony Leggett.
	"NOBEL" FOR SALT AND WATER On October, 8 the names of Nobel prize winners in chemistry American scientists Peter Agre and Roderick MacKinnon became known are.
	THE AWARD ON MEDICINE IS AWARDED THE CHEMIST AND PHYSICS For the first time during last ten years the Nobel Prize on physiology and medicine regardless of tradition is not awarded to microbiologists, but to chemist Paul C. Lauterbur (USA) and physicist Sir Peter Mansfield (Great Britain) for a discovery that has become the basis for magnetic resonance imaging tomography (MRI scanners).

	FROM CENTURY TO CENTURY In the second half of September, International conference "From century to century" has taken place in Vladivostok, devoted to the 95th anniversary from the birthday of Academician Alexei Pavlovich Okladnikov (3.10.1908 -1 8.11.1981) and to the 50th anniversary of the Far East Archeological Expedition established by him.

	CHEMISTRY OF OIL AND GAS At the end of September in Tomsk, at the Institute of Petroleum Chemistry of the SB RAS, 5th International conference "Chemistry of oil and gas" has been held. It has been devoted to 35th anniversary since the Institute was founded.
	TRANSBAIKALIA IN RUSSIAN GEOPOLITICS International scientific conference "Transbaikalia in geopolitics of Russia", devoted to the 350th anniversary of the Russian Transbaikalia has been held in Chita. Simultaneously International symposiums "Ancient cultures of Asia and America" and "Change of the climate and an environment in Central Asia" have taken place.
	NOVEL TECHNOLOGIES FOR NEW GENERATION For the third year a school - seminar of the young scientists organized by the Institute of System Dynamics and Control Theory and the Institute of Energy Systems is working.
