	NEWS
	THE HEAD OF THE GOVERNMENT MEETING WITH NOVOSIBIRSK SCIENTISTS July, 23 and 24 there was Chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation M.Kasyanov paying a working visit in Novosibirsk.
	S.MIRONOV VISITING ACADEMGORODOK July 27, Chairman of the Council of Federation of the Federal Assembly of Russia Sergei Mironov, who made a working visit to the Novosibirsk Region, has visited Academgorodok.
	EXPLOSION AND AROUND IT From August 11 to August 15, 2003 International seminar "Hydrodynamics of high power density" organized by the M.A.Lavrentiev Institute of Hydrodynamics of the SB RAS will be held at the Novosibirsk Academgorodok.
	SPACE EXPERIMENT IN THE LABORATORY On the eve of New Year 2003 a message has appeared in "SiS" that some experiments within special installation "Space research-1" with the use of powerful clouds of laser plasma are carried out at the Institute of Laser Physics of the SB RAS. For the first time capture of plasma in a dipole trap simulating the Earth magnetic field, as well as abnormal effects of interaction of the clouds of space plasma with magnetic field are revealed in model experiments.
	CONSTELLATION OF SCIENTISTS AT BAIKAL In the end of July - the beginning of August there will be unusually many visitors from different cardinal points at the Institute of System Dynamics and Control Theory of the SB RAS: multiple events of the international scale will be held there at once.
	EXHIBITION VISIT TO TRANSBAIKALIA From June, 2 to June, 6 an exhibition seminar on the finished developments of the SB RAS has been held in Chita.

	THE 5TH CONGRESS OF RUSSIAN ETHNOGRAPHERS AND ANTHROPOLOGISTS Results of the work of the 5th Congress of ethnographers and anthropologists of Russia are reviewed; 1200 scientists of our country as well as of 10 foreign countries (England, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kirghizia, the USA, Germany, France, Ukraine, etc.) have wished to participate in it.
	MEETING OF CRYSTALLOGRAPHERS In June regularly scheduled International School on crystallography worked at Erice (Italy). For the first time in all the history of the schools at Erice, the lectures have been devoted to the crystallography at high pressures.
	SUMMER SCHOOL IN DENMARK In June two post-graduates of the Institute of Chemical Biology and Fundamental Medicine (the NIBC the SB RAS) have taken part in the Summer School "Chemical Biology of Nucleic Acids" held at the Center of Chemistry of Nucleic Acids, Southern University of Denmark (Odens).
	COAL REGION: REFLECTIONS OF ECOLOGIST Our correspondent talking with the Deputy Director for Scientific research work of the Institute of Coal and Coal Chemistry of the SB RAS about ecological situation in coal industry of Kuzbass and not only about it.
	REMARKABLE HOUSE-WARMING The first time for many years young scientists of the Irkutsk Scientific Center had an opportunity to celebrate house-warming. A new five-floor 40-flatted house of the improved lay-out, in which 15 apartments are populated by young families has appeared at the Academgorodok, on the Angara riverside. It is built due to the SB RAS and Irkutsk Regional Administration help.
	FOR THE PRIZES OF THE "SCIENCE IN SIBERIA" WEEKLY From July, 21 to July, 25, 2003 Man`s Tennis Tournament for the prizes of the "Science in Siberia" Weekly was held on the Central courts of a Novosibirsk Academgorodok.
