	NOT TO LET HAVE SCIENCE "OPTIMIZED" DOWN TO ZERO According to the resolution of the Presidium of the Russian Academy of Science Academician Gennadi Mesiats as the founder and the head of basic scientific fields of the Institute of High Current Electronics, is appointed scientific adviser of the Institute. On March, 20, during his usual working visit to Tomsk, Gennadi Andreevich has told to the heads of the IHCE scientific subdivisions about the course of the Academy reorganization.
	PRESTIGIOUS GERMAN PRIZE HANDED TO ACADEMICIAN ALEXANDR SKRINSKI On March, 19 in the Novosibirsk Academgorodok a solemn ceremony of handing the prestigious German Prize for Russian Scientists (the A.P.Karpinski Prize of 2002) to outstanding physicist, expert in the field of acceleration engineering, Academician Alexandr Nikolaevich Skrinski (Institute of Nuclear Physics of the SB RAS).
	MUSE OF THE FOLKLORE SERIAL Eugenia Kuzmina, executive secretary of the Academic 60-volume series "Monuments of folklore of Siberian and Far East peoples" is given with the honorary title "The Woman of Year" among the scientists of Novosibirsk.

Such not very comforting conclusions were made by Japanese scientists participating in joint research project with the researches of the Institute of Solar and Terrestrial Physics of the SB RAS.
