	High Decorations for the Scientists According to the Decree of the President of Russian Federation No. 70 of the 14th of June, 1999, a large group of the scientists of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences has been decorated with orders for their significant contribution to the development of national science, training of high-qualified specialists as well as on the occasion of the 275th anniversary of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
	News from the Presidium of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences A session of the Presidium of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences was held on 18th of June. The first item of the agenda concerned the awarding of Koptyug Prize which was established by the Presidium of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences and National Academy of Sciences of Byelarus.

	News from the Presidium of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences A session of the Presidium of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences was held on 24th of June. Academician V. Parmon, director of the Institute of Catalysis presented a report "Photocatalysis in Atmospherical Chemistry". Academician V. Molodin submitted for consideration basic principles of the functioning of councils of junior scientists in the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences. Essentially, the case in point was the restoring of the councils of junior scientists at the institutions and divisions of the Branch.


	According to the Results of Comparative Analysis The session of the United Scientific Council on biology of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
	A Talk on "Siberian" Diseases In June an on-site session of the Presidium of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences was held at the Scientific Research Institute of Therapy. The main report concerning principal trends of investigation and the results of the work of the Institute of Therapy was made by its director Academician Yu. Nikitin.
	Transfer of Science Intensive Technologies into Chemical Industry On the 10th of June a joint session of the representatives of the Novosibirsk Regional administration, academic and planning chemical institutes had took place at the Exhibition Centre of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
	Biochemistry, the Main Point of the Issue The new issue of the Siberian Ecological Journal (1999, N 3) has been brought out by the Publishing House of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences. The background of that issue was formed by the materials of the International workshop on physiological and biochemical studying of medicinal plants.


	The Experimental Production Division of the Institute of Nuclear Physics Goes on Living and Working The experimental production division No. 1 is a large division of the Institute of Nuclear Physics of the Russian Academy of Sciences. To accomplish a large contract of the institute with the European Centre of Nuclear Research (CERN) shops of the production division have been reorganized and re-equipped. 360 six-meter dipole electromagnets and 180 one-and-a-half- meter quadrupole ones are to be produced by the end of 2000. The first ten articles are already in CERN and has been appreciated. Wares made in the experimental division are functioning with advantage not only in the Institute of Nuclear Physics, but in numerous scientific institutions of the United States, Germany, Switzerland, Japan, South Korea, China and other countries.

	Geotechnology on the Eve of the 21st century A scientific and practical conference "Geotechnology on the Eve of the 21st century" took place at the Institute of mining of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences. It was dedicated to the 275th anniversary of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
	Developments of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences at the Military Exhibition From 8th to 12th of June the 3rd International Exhibition of Armament and Military Equipment of the Land Forces and Conversion Production, VTTV-Omsk-99, was held in Omsk. It was organized by the Omsk Regional and City administrations, International Exhibition Centre "Intersib" and supported by a number of federal ministries and committees, "Rosvooruzheniye" State Committee, "Siberian Agreement" inter-regional association and "Great Urals" association for economic interaction of the regions and republics of the Urals area. 46 near and far foreign countries took part in the exhibition, in particular the United States, Belgium, The Netherlands, China, Iraq, Iran, Kuwait, and North Korea.
